The Gran Canaria Hiking Holidays are holiday programs designed to enjoy of the most beautiful and unknown side of Gran Canaria. All the hiking week programs include guided walking tours to some of the most beautiful natural places of Gran Canaria. These programs also give you the chance to enjoy of the local life, culture and gastronomy. You can enjoy also with this program a great combination: the sea and the amazing nature of Gran Canaria.

Agaete is a white little village located on the north of Gran Canaria. Agaete enjoys of wonderful surroundings, such as the beach and harbor, with its little fishing boats, the majestic valley and also the views over the cliffs of Gran Canaria’s west side. Agaete offers plenty of things to do: visiting a coffee plantation, swimming on the ocean of the natural swimming pools, enjoying the town centre quiet streets, trying  the local gastronomy in the Puerto de Las Nieves or visiting the various archeological sites you can find on the area.

08:30     Guided Walking Tour: Azuaje, route to the hidden valley

Azuaje is a fertile valley located on the north of the Island, between the municipalities of Firgas and Moya. This is a protected area which is part of the old Doramas Forest. The route follows most of the time the course of a stream located on the middle of the valley. Its walls rises in some points the 100 metres high. The stream keeps the dense vegetation of the ravine and also the many endemic plants of the valley. You will have the feeling of experiencing a real adventure when trekking in Azuaje. Technical information about the route: Distance: 6,7 km/Total accumulated ascend: 293 m. /Total accumulated descend: 293 m.

08:30     Guided Walking Tour: Roque Nublo, route to the heart of Gran Canaria

The Roque Nublo is the natural symbol of Gran Canaria, this route is a “must visit” when visiting Gran Canaria. The Roque Nublo Hiking Route starts in El Garañón, and runs through the border of the “Caldera de Tejeda”, which is the result of many volcanic eruptions along the History. Most of the time this path passes between endemic plant species such as the Canary pine tres. From La Fogalera viewpoint the views becomes breathtaking, you can see a stunning sight of the Roque Bentaiga from there. Most of the days we can also see Mount Teide over the clouds. We will continue hiking around Roque Nublo up to its base, a large plain where you will find Roque Nublo. Technical information about the route: Distance: 12,6 km./ Total accumulated ascend: 461 m./ Total accumulated descend: 461 m.

Walk in Gran Canaria Suggest: We propose you to visit some of the picturesque villages on the centre and north of the Island.  Teror and Arucas are especially charming places. Arucas is called the “flowers city”. Take a walk around its beautiful streets, and do not forget to visit the wonderful church San Juan Bautista of neo gothic style. Teror is the main pilgrimage point in Gran Canaria. There is located the impressive Basilica del Pino. Make a stop at the Finca de Osorio, a truly interesting natural place where the romantic gardens mixes with the remains of a laurisilva forest.

08:30     Guided hiking tour: Way to Valsendero, the enchanted forest route

This route starts following an old path that borders the Caldera de Tejeda, from where you will have wonderful views over Roque Nublo, Roque Bentaiga, Riscos de Chapin and the impressive mountains of the west side of Gran Canaria (declared Biosphere Reservation by the UNESCO). After reaching the pine forest we will head for Valsendero, walking along the Barranco del Andén. We will walk near Montañón Negro, a volcano where took place the last volcanic eruption in Gran Canaria. The landscape around it is very special and unique. From there, we will start seeing the majestic Barranco del Andén. The beauty of this valley will impress you from the beginning: the mountains, the variety of its vegetation, the water galleries, the caves….. The trees are covered with lichens, giving the whole place a special appearance, you are now in a kind of “enchanted forest”. This canyon is home to many birds, we might find on our way birds of prey, woodpeckers and other little birds. Technical information about the route: Distance: 12,8 km./ Total accumulated ascend: 184 m./ Total accumulated descend: 844 m.

08:30     Guided Walking Tour: Caldera de Bandama, the volcano and wine route

We will start the route descending 200 metres to reach the bottom of the Caldera de Bandama (Caldera = Crater). On the way down we will start feeling that we are entering in an isolated world, where the air, the sounds, the vegetation and the whole life has its own pace, we are entering a place which becomes hostile and idyllic at the same time. A visit to the Caldera de Bandama will help us to understand the geologic origin of Gran Canaria, an Island which is the result of thousands of years of volcanic eruptions. The Bandama Natural Monument is part of the Tafira Protected Landscape. When we reach the centre of the crater we will feel small, the surrounding crater walls are impressive. The Bandama Area is currently the main wine producing area of Gran Canaria, the soil of the area and also the climatology has created the ideal conditions for the farmers to set up their vineyards. Technical information about the route (hike inside and circular): Distance: 7 km. total accumulated ascend: 421 m./ Total accumulated descend: 421 m.

You can use the restaurant located 120 metres away where you can enjoy a free buffet breakfast, which includes meats, cheeses, jams and pastries. A vegetarian breakfast is also offered. Vending machines can be found at reception.

Ferries to neighbouring Canary islands leave from the port, just 200 metres from the El Cabo.

Tamadaba Nature Reserve is 3.5 km from the hotel. Las Palmas is a 35-minute drive away.
